The 2009 Leadership Warner Robins Class Will Host a Yard Sale for Camp Wings - A program of Heart of Georgia Hospice The 2009 Leadership Warner Robins Class is gathering donations from the community to host a yard sale fundraiser for Camp Wings - a fall camp hosted by Heart of Georgia Hospice. Drop-Off Date at the Chamber Tuesday, June 2nd from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm The class will be accepting items such as small furniture pieces, clothing in fair condition, electronics and other items. Yard Sale Date WHEN: Saturday, June 13, 2009 TIME: 8:00 am to 12:00 noon WHERE: Chamber parking lot (1228 Watson Blvd.) Heart of Georgia Hospice Inc. offers Camp Wings, a bereavement camp, to children ages 6-16 who have lost a loved one. This camp is designed to help children understand that they are not alone, and that their feelings of grief and loss are normal, with the help of a safe and supportive environment in which to express their feelings. This year’s program is scheduled to be held from November 6-8, 2009 at Camp Martha Johnston in Lizella, GA. The funds collected during the yard sale will help fund Camp Wings ’ operation costs as well as aide in the purchase of food and other items for the duration of the camp weekend. The mission of the 2009 Leadership WR class is to help Heart of Georgia Hospice meet these needs. Monetary donations are always appreciated and should be made out to Heart of Georgia Hospice/Camp Wings. Please mail any monetary donations to Brandie Thompson, 608 Amherst St., Kathleen, GA 31047. All donations are tax deductible! Chamber Committees- Anyone Can Get Involved! Governmental Affairs The Government Affairs Committee, Chaired by Shaw Blackmon, represents the Chamber membership by building and maintaining productive relationships between the Chamber and local, state and federal governments and their various agencies. This division promotes communications and constructive dialogue and speaks in support of or in opposition to legislation, regulations and programs that affect the Chamber membership. The committee also oversees the development of Legislative Issues for approval by the Chamber Board of Directors and integration into the Chamber’s Legislative Agenda. Responsibilities include verbal and written reports on the division’s activities. |
